A curvilinear ditch circa 125 metres in length and between circa 9 and 12 metres in width is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The bank is orientated approximately north-west to south-east on a gentle south-east sloping field immediately north of Kempthorne.
The earthwork ditch does not correspond to any features depicted on the available historic maps, however it is parallel to adjacent depicted field boundaries. The historic landscape is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields.
The ditch is interpreted as a former field boundary of medieval origin that may have formed part of a medieval strip field system and that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
