A curvilinear ditch 105 metres in length is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2007 and 2013. The ditch is situated in a south-west facing field south-east of Alston and is circa 20 metres at its north-east end narrowing to circa 4 metres at its south-west end.
The ditch partially corresponds to or adjoins a house and garden depicted on the Tithe Map (Plot 234) and extends from this plot to the south-west. The ditch adjoins a small dog-leg in a field boundary to the south-west. Several trees are depicted following the path of the ditch on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and on aerial photographs dating from the 1940s. The buildings appear to have passed out of use in the late 20th or early 21st century.
The ditch is interpreted as a field boundary with a possible yard area adjacent to the house of medieval to post-medieval origin, that passed out of use prior to 1840.
