A curvilinear bank, circa 2.5 metres wide and broadly orientated north to south, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 2010 and 2016.
The earthwork does not correspond with any curvilinear features shown on the late-19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map but is in keeping with the surrounding historic field pattern.
The form of the earthwork supports the interpretation that it is likely to be a relict field boundary of post-medieval date that had been removed by the late-19th century.
Other earthworks of banks and a ditch are also visible in this immediate location on lidar imagery. These are also interpreted as being possible relict field boundaries but are potentially of medieval origin and so have therefore been recorded as a separate monument (MDV129267).
Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 338.2 (Interpretation). SDV363949.
A curvilinear earthwork bank of a medieval or post-med field boundary.
