Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The earthworks do not correspond with any depicted features, however the southern part aligns with a depicted field boundary to the south-east. The plot is recorded as ‘Calve’s Close’ (Plot 701).

An approximate oval shaped depression is visible as an earthwork.

An L-shaped bank totalling approximately 60 metres in length and between 3 and 6 metres in width is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The bank is situated within a south-west facing field immediately north of Willestrew Farm at Willestrew.
The earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps, however the southern section of the bank aligns with a depicted field boundary to the immediate south-east. The historic landscape is characterised as park/garden associated with the Willestrew estate.
The bank is interpreted as a medieval to post-medieval field boundary that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
