Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The earthworks do not correspond to any depicted features. One of the plots is recorded as ‘Little Quarry Park’.

Five depressions, approximately oval shaped, the largest being 30 metres by 24 metres and the smallest 18 metres by 13 metres, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005 and 2013. The depressions are situated across two south-west facing fields west of Dunterton Glebe.
The earthworks do not correspond with any depicted features on the available historic maps. A circular earthwork is depicted to the north however, and an oval shaped earthwork is depicted to the south (MDV130415). The plots are recorded as ‘Quarry Park’ and ‘Little Church Park’ in the Tithe Apportionment.
The earthwork depressions are interpreted as extractive pits of post-medieval origin.

Earthworks identified by two volunteers. 426.3 (DS): ‘Group of at least 5 possible extraction pits not shown on historical maps SX374795’. 426.9 (AP): ‘Circular/square enclosures’, which likely refers to the same feature.
