A large oval mound circa 40 metres by 20 metres is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005 and 2013. The mound is situated adjacent to a field boundary in a south-west facing field west of Dunterton Glebe.
The mound corresponds to an earthwork depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch First Edition map and subsequent historic and modern maps.
The earthwork is visible as a pale cropmark on aerial photographs dating from the 1940’s. The earthwork is depicted as truncated in size and labelled as a disused quarry on mid to late-20th century maps. It is depicted as disused workings on the Ordnance Survey MasterMap. The earthwork mound is visible and shown as covered in vegetation in modern aerial photographs.
The mound is interpreted as a former extractive pit of post-medieval origin, that has been subsequently infilled.
