A large irregular shaped depression between circa 4 and 20 metres in width and circa 75 metres in length is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. Two less distinct depressions, one circa 30 metres by 10 metres and one circa 15 metres by 15 metres, are visible as subtle earthworks immediately to the north-west. The earthworks are situated in a south-east facing field south-east of Milton Green.
The depressions do not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps. The plot is recorded as ‘Brick Meadow’ and under pasture cultivation in the Tithe Apportionment. A small stream runs through the plot to the south-east.
The large depression is faintly visible on aerial photographs dating from the 1940’s and from 2005 onwards.
The depressions are interpreted as extractive pits of post-medieval origin. Alternatively, the large pit may be of part or wholly natural origin, associated with the water course.

Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 405.14 (Interpretation). SDV363949.

One of the depressions may have been previously interpreted as a circular enclosure.
