Several parallel curvilinear banks between circa 5 and 10 metres in width are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The banks are orientated approximately north-west to south-east in a north-west facing field west of Short Burn Farm.
The banks do not correspond to any features depicted on the available historic maps, however they are parallel to an adjacent depicted field boundary. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘post-medieval enclosures with medieval elements’.
The banks are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval origin that passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
