Two parallel curvilinear ditches between circa 4 and 6 metres in width and between circa 35 and 50 metres in length are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The ditches are orientated north-east to south-west in a south-west facing field to the immediate south-east of Milton Abbot.
The ditches do not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘medieval enclosures’.
The ditches are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin, that passed out of use by the mid-19th century. Alternatively, it’s possible they could be former orchard banks of post-medieval origin.
