A series of curvilinear banks between circa 10 and 20 metres in width and orientated both north-south and east-west are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The banks are situated in a south facing field south-west of Eastcott Barton.
The banks do not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps, however the north-south orientated bank may align with a trackway depicted to the south. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘post-medieval enclosures with medieval elements’.
The banks are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval origin, that formed part of a strip field system and that passed out of use prior to circa 1840. One of the banks may be a former trackway.
