Curvilinear earthworks of banks that flank a ditch, between 2-5 metres wide, are visible on digital 1940’s RAF aerial photographs and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2010 and 2013. The earthworks probably form part of a single curvilinear feature that extends to a length of circa 520 metres and closely follows the contours of the east facing slope.
The earthworks partly correspond with a field boundary at SX46097032 shown on the late-19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map, although the remaining earthworks do not correspond with any such features on this map, or on later available historic maps.
The earthworks are interpreted as the possible surviving medieval remains of the Lumburn Leat that have been identified in this area. It has, however, been recorded as a separate, but associated, record given this uncertainty.
