Woodland and rough ground is depicted on the slopes either side of the watercourse.

Numerous earthwork pits, located in woodland and rough ground on the slopes either side of a watercourse at Portontown Wood, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2007 and 2013. Only one is depicted on the available historic mapping and has already been recorded separately and has not been transcribed as part of this project. Given the proximity of mining remains at nearby Wheal Conquer and Wheal Grace it is possible that these were extractive pits related to post-medieval mining activity, which went out of use before the late-19th century.
