An earthwork pit, approximately 12 by 6 metres wide, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2007 and 2013. It is not depicted on the available historic mapping, although an ‘Old Quarry’ is marked just to the south-west. A bank is visible around the pit, and these features are interpreted as the remains of a post-medieval extractive pit with surrounding upcast, which went out of use before the late-19th century. A curvilinear earthwork bank immediately to the north appears very substantial, at up to 12 metres wide, and could be associated, perhaps a metalled track for movement of the extracted materials.
