A series of curvilinear banks between circa 9 and 17 metres in width and forming a capital A shape are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005 and 2013. The banks are orientated both north to south and east to west in a west facing field south-east of Hardstone Farm.
The banks do not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘post-medieval enclosures’.
The banks are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840. Alternatively, some of the north to south orientated banks may be natural in origin.
