(28/09/2007) Shafts adits and other surface evidence of copper extraction at Virtuous Lady Mine. SX 4728 6980. Sited by the waters edge, this shaft has a rectangular profile measuring 1.8m by 1.2m. The opening is raised above ground and surrounded by a stone revetment. Filled with water and rubbish to river level. (Newman, P., 28-SEP-2007, EH Archaeological Field Investigation).
