Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The ditch does not correspond with any depicted features, however it extends from a curving kink in a field boundary to the south-west.

A curvilinear ditch circa 4.5 metres in width and circa 75 metres in length is visible as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019. The ditch is orientated north-east to south-west in a south-west facing field north-east of Maristow Gardens.
The ditch does not correspond to any features depicted on the available historic maps, however it appears to extend from a curving kink in a field boundary to the south-west depicted on the Tithe Map. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘post-medieval enclosures with medieval elements’.
The ditch is interpreted as a field boundary of medieval to post-medieval origin that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
