Hegarty, C., Houghton, E., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2020-2021, Tamar/Lidar; A Single Source Approach to Landscape Survey and Socially Distanced Community Archaeology Area 1 (AI&M project) (Interpretation). SDV363945.

Sub-oval earthworks of a single pit, circa 32 metres long by 20 metres wide, with associated banks, between 7-10 metres long, are visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019.
The pit partly corresponds with a curvilinear earthwork labelled as ‘Old Quarry’ on the late-19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. A curvilinear earthwork is also shown in this location on the 2021 Ordnance Survey MasterMap.
The earthworks are therefore interpreted as a post-medieval or 19th century quarry with associated spoil heaps that had passed out of use by the late-19th century.
The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover of Hole Wood.

Ordnance Survey, 2021, MasterMap 2021 (Cartographic). SDV364015.

A curvilinear earthwork is depicted in this location.
