Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The bank does not correspond with any depicted features, however it aligns with an adjacent field boundary.

A short curvilinear bank circa 4 metres in width and circa 30 metres in length is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019. The bank is orientated north-west to south-east in a north-west facing field south of Philleigh.
The bank does not correspond to any features depicted on the available historic maps, however it does align with a field boundary directly to the north-west. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘barton fields’.
The bank is interpreted as a field boundary of medieval to post-medieval origin that passed out of use by circa 1840.
