Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The depressions correspond approximately with two semi-circular areas of field depicted as rough pasture.

Three approximately oval shaped depressions between circa 10 and 25 metres across are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019. They are situated in a south facing field south-east of Woolacombe.
The depressions correspond approximately with two semi-circular areas of field depicted as rough pasture and scrub on the available historic maps.
The depressions are interpreted as extractive pits of post-medieval origin that ceased to be worked by circa 1840.
