Summary
Two parallel curvilinear banks are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019 west of Woolacombe Farm. They are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin that passed out of use by the mid-19th century. Alternatively, they could be post-medieval planting ridges for orchard trees that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.

Two parallel curvilinear banks circa 80 metres in length and 5 metres in width are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019. The banks are orientated east to west in a south-east facing field west of Woolacombe Farm.
The banks do not correspond to any features depicted on the available historic maps, however they are parallel to adjacent depicted field boundaries and one of the banks aligns with a depicted field boundary to the east. The historic landscape is characterised as ‘medieval enclosures based on strip fields’. The plot is recorded as a meadow in the Tithe Apportionment, however there are several orchards depicted surrounding the farm.
They banks are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin that passed out of use by the mid-19th century. Alternatively, they could be post-medieval planting ridges for orchard trees that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
