A linear bank, circa 7 metres wide and orientated north-west to south-east, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019.
The earthwork does not correspond with any features shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, but is possibly in keeping with a series of sub-divisions depicted on this map within neighbouring land parcels 1786 and 1789, which are recorded as ‘Garden’ and ‘Little Park Garden’, respectively, on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment.
The earthwork is therefore interpreted as a possible relict boundary of post-medieval or 19th century date that may have formed part of the gardens attached to Bere Barton (MDV4056), but which had been removed by the mid-19th century.
