A curvilinear bank, circa 7m wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019. The earthwork does not correspond with any features in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps. A trackway which is shown on historic maps and extends from Warleigh Lodge to Warleigh Barton possibly truncates, and so post-dates, this earthwork.
The purpose of the earthwork is largely uncertain, but it possibly forms the northern edge of a curvilinear enclosure of potential late prehistoric or Roman date. A complex of enclosures recorded as cropmarks from aerial photographs, circa 120 metres to the south, adds some support to this interpretation.
