An earthwork pit, up to approximately 55 by 45 metres in extent, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2007 and 2013. It is not depicted on the available historic mapping, and is provisionally interpreted as post-medieval extractive pit which had become disused by the late-19th century. The ground surface around it is irregular, perhaps indicating ground disturbance from extraction or industrial activity. However a spring is marked on the historic mapping just to the south and it is possible that this is a natural feature.
