Eastern Tor settlement.

Settlement under Eastern Tor is within 100 metres of Ditsworthy Warren House and the site has suffered accordingly. Later walls wind between the enclosures incorporating sections into the older ones so that the original scheme is no longer clear. There seem to have been five separate enclosures ('A'-'E') only one of which remains moderately complete though reconstructed on the east side. Hut circles occur in Enclosures 'A', 'B' and 'D' as well as three in a row in the area between Enclosures 'B' and 'D'.

Settlement shown on modern mapping.

Historic England, 2021, National Heritage List for England, 1010652 (National Heritage List for England). SDV364016.

This settlement lies on a south-east facing slope above the north bank of the River Plym and below Eastern Tor. It is sub-oval in shape, circa 130 metres in length and circa 65 metres in width and is in an area of outcropping rock and heavy clitter on the side of the tor; this combined with high bracken makes observation difficult. The enclosure banks incorporate large natural boulders along the north side and is up to 2 metres in width and on average 0.5 metres to 1 metre in height, though the boulders are up to 2 metres in height. There are the remains of a subdivision at the western end, with a hut 10 metres in diameter in the junction between the main bank and that of the subdivision. There are at least seven other hut circles in the enclosures, all of them free standing and up to 10 metres in diameter with walls up to 1 metre in thickness and 0.5 metres in height. The north bank has been incorporated in later intake walling.
