Farmstead depicted at the end of a lane with buildings ranged around the north, west and south sides of a square yard with a small building at the south end of the east side. The lane enters the yard at the south-west corner.
Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.
Watcombe marked, at the end of Watcombe Lane. Comparison with the Tithe Map shows the farmstead to have changed little. The farmhouse is shown to the north, with a garden on its south side. A horse engine house is also shown attached to the barn on the west side of the yard.
Cox, J., 2006, A Source of Information about Farm Buildings, 16 (Article in Serial). SDV354883.
The Field Book for Morchard Bishop from the 1910-1915 land survey records eight farm buildings, six of which had galvanised iron roofs. The other two, the poultry house and bullock house were still thatch. The farmhouse itself was slated.
