An irregularly shaped pit, circa 28 metres long by 24 metres wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019, on steep south-east facing slope within Tor Plantation.
The western edge of the pit corresponds with an earthwork depicted on both the late-19th century and early- 20th century First and Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps.
It is interpreted as a possible post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit that had probably passed out of use by late-19th century.
The earthwork is not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to the thick tree cover of Tor Plantation.
