Full description

Newman, P., 2006, Cramber Tor Training Area Archaeological Field Investigation (Report - Survey). SDV233640.

(01/08/2006) A series of secondary enclosure banks, probably associated with the long bank or former reave which extends between the outer boundary of Outcombe Wood and the Eylesbarrow reave (SX 56 NE 99). One 38m straight section (SX 5792 6816) is attached to the west side of the reave, but truncated by a streamwork. Another at SX 5794 6831 forms a small enclosure attached to the east side of the reave. The course of this bank appears to have been adopted by a leat of later date. A further section at SX 5806 6778 has been truncated by the streamworks and no associated between it and the reave survives. All the banks are low turf banks of up to 1.5m wide by 0.5m high.
