Full description

Grinsell, L. V., 1970, The Barrows of North Devon, 116 (Article in Serial). SDV7849.

Visited 1969. Listed as a bowl barrow. Diameter 24 paces, height 2 feet.


Department of Environment, 1971, Eight Round Barrows on Affland Moor (Schedule Document). SDV339647.

Visited March 1969. Diameter 32 yards, height 2 feet. Under pasture.


Devon Committee for Rescue Archaeology, 1979 - 1981, North Devon Barrow Survey, DCRA ND80 (Archive - Survey). SDV341310.

Visited 28th November 1979. Diameter 22.4 metres, height 0.55 metres. Rather flat-topped mound on open moor/rough pasture. Slight trench on westside, rather irregular outline. No sign of ditch. Poor condition. More ploughing will eradicate it altogether.


Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1979 - 1997, SS30SW3 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV343485.

Visited 9th March 1951. Low , flat topped mound, surrounded by a ditch. Top of mound measures 12 metres. Bearing neither tump or indentation. Appears to be either badly mutilated bowl barrow or slightly mutilated platform barrow.
Visited 21st November 1977. Now under pasture. Reduced by ploughing, and ditch has been destroyed.

Visited 17/7/1997. Bowl barrow on Affaland Moor, 810m south-west of Leworthy. Diameter 23.8 metres, height 0.6 metre. Ditch survives as buried feature.
