Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX66SW40, SX66SW40, Plan (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV154491.

Visited on 30th March 1950. Pound and hut circles, south east of Penn Beacon.
Visited on 17th August 1977. As described by Fleming and Collis. The settlement is earlier than or contemporary with the construction of Penn Moor Reave. No associated fields or plots are visible.

Visited in April 1972. Approximately circular though irregular enclosure. One definite entrance to the north-west. Inside the enclosure seven free-standing huts and one attached to the wall. Outside, an outlying hut is attached to Penn Moor Reave.

Sub-circular enclosure visible incorporated within Penn Moor Reave. Seven hut circles visible freestanding inside the enclosure, with four attached to walls. Three hut circles are close to, or attached to, Penn Moor Reave (two to the east one to the south), and one hut circle lies just outside the southern perimeter of the enclosure.

Hut circle '11' of 6.2 metres diameter to the south of the enclosure at ' Penn Beacon East' with an entrance to the east.

Stone hut circle lies on a south-east facing slope above Ford Brook and to the south of Penn Moor enclosed hut settlement and Penn Moor contour reave. It is 10 metres in diameter and has walls 2 metres in thickness and 1 metre in height, with a probable entrance to the north.
