Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The depression corresponds to a semi-circular plot of coppice.

The depression corresponds approximately with a semi-circular plot recorded as coppice on the Tithe Map, which by the First Edition is depicted as scrub and furze. The earthwork is interpreted as a post-medieval extractive pit, that passed out of use by circa 1840.
