HER Number:MDV131232
Name:Mine shaft, pits and dam near Eylesbarrow trackway

Summary

Earthworks of a post medieval tin mine shaft and a small dam located adjacent to the main Eylesbarrow track. The features were recorded during an archaeological field survey in 1999.
A deep pit, a number of tip pits and a small dam all lie adjacent to the main Eylesbarrow track. The pit at SX58916771 is probably an abandoned mine shaft and the small dam at SX59006775 may have stored water for the nearby narrow openwork. An extensive area of peat digging lies to the north of this site.
