Sims, R., Knight, S. & Houghton, E., 2020-2021, East Devon AONB Lidar Assessment and Desk based Assessment (Interpretation). SDV363914.

A northeast to southwest orientated curvilinear bank with a short northwest to southeast adjoining bank, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2016 northeast of Hatway Cottage. The banks do not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps. They are situated in the curving southern part of a plot recorded as Hatway Hill on the Tithe Map, beyond which is a road. The road appears to truncate the banks. The banks are interpreted as medieval to post-medieval field boundaries that may pre-date the road, and passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
