The ditch does not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps, but it is in parallel with adjacent field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map. It is bisected by a road established in the 19th century, which is probably contemporary with the manor house built in 1879 (MDV16947). The ditch is interpreted as a field boundary of medieval to post-medieval origin, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
