The depression corresponds with a recorded orchard.

It corresponds to an orchard plot recorded on the Tithe Map (Plot 1477) and is depicted as an orchard on subsequent maps until the mid-20th century. The depression is interpreted as a post-medieval extractive pit, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840, after which it was planted as an orchard.
