A large earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depression partly corresponds with a plot recorded as 'Pilkey Orchard' on the Tithe Map. The plot continues to be depicted as an orchard until the early 20th century and is depicted as woodland thereafter. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval origin that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840, when it was planted as an orchard.
