This area is depicted as deciduous woodland on the late-19th century mapping.

A curvilinear earthwork bank is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, and is interpreted as the remains of a field boundary. It is not depicted on the available historic mapping, and may have fallen out of use by the mid-19th century. It is just to the west of Barnsleigh, depicted on the Tithe map as a reverse-L-shaped building, and may be part of the infield system at this settlement.
