A number of roughly circular pits are visible within woodland on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. They are sited within an area described as ‘furze’ in the Tithe apportionment, and depicted as mixed woodland in the late 19th century OS maps. They appear to form clusters rather than lines, but could be prospecting pits or extractive pits. However it is possible that they are natural or geological features, and more work is required to define their character and likely date.
