Summary

Possible cairn on south side of Weatherdon Hill; rock strewn with some bracken. A group of granite stones on a low oval mound of earth and stone, 7m x 4m, direction of length east-north-east by west-south-west. The lower south-western part is a group of stones, maximum height 1.0m, which have the appearance of being man-placed. The remainder of the site is a low mound standing less than 0.5m high, which merges into the hillside at the higher north-east end.

(31/12/1979) Possible cairn on south side of Weatherdon Hill; gentle south-western slope; rock strewn with some bracken. SX 6512 5869.
A group of granite stones on a low oval mound of earth and stone, 7m x 4m, direction of length east-north-east by west-south-west (c.50 degrees east of true north). The lower south-western part is a group of stones, maximum height 1.0m, which have the appearance of being man-placed. The remainder of the site is a low mound standing less than 0.5m high, which merges into the hillside at the higher north-east end.

The south-west cairn on Western Beacon SX 65055885, the site described, and the north cairn on Weatherdon Hill SX 65445772, are visually in a straight line. Not visible on RAF 1946 aerial photograph.
