A large earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 east of Devenish Pit Farm. The farm was first documented in the 14th century (MDV116228). The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps. The plot is recorded as a meadow called 'Devenish Pit' in the Tithe Map. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of probable post-medieval origin, but possibly earlier origin, and which contributes to the name of the farm.
