Two oval shaped earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The northernmost depression is circa 30m by 22m and is now a pond. A curvilinear ditch flanked by banks is also visible and appears to lead from the pond to the south-east. The southernmost depression is situated to the south of the ditch and is circa 50m by 25m. The earthworks are situated in a plot recorded as 'Great Orchard' in the Tithe Survey and the pond corresponds to a kink in its northern boundary. The pond correponds to a small enclosure of scrub depicted on the First and Second Edition OS map, with a small stream issuing from it and leading to the south. The plot otherwise continues to be depicted as an orchard until the mid to late 20th century. The other visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on historic or modern maps.
The earthworks are interpreted as extractive pits of post-medieval origin, one of which has established as a pond, with access trackway, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
