The banks extend from a depicted field boundary and are situated within a plot recorded as 'Mitchells or Broom Moor' (Plot 273).

They do not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps, but extend from a curving perpendicular field boundary to the north depicted on the Tithe Map. The banks are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
