A series of narrow curvilinear ditches are visible as earthworks on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The ditches approximately follow the contours of the north-east facing slope. They are faintly visible on aerial photographs dating to the 1940s. The plot is recorded as 'Great Mead' in the Tithe Survey. A drainage ditch or stream is depited to the north-west of the ditches on the First and Second Edition OS maps. The ditches are interpreted as irrigation gutters of a catch meadow system of 19th to early 20th century origin.
