Summary

They are interpreted as possible former field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin, possibly associated with a deserted settlement and chapel, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.

Several curvilinear banks are visible as subtle earthworks on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The banks form a right angle and linear fragments on land to the south-west of a possible chapel (MDV40108) and are between 7m and 9m in width. They do not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps. They are situated in a plot recorded as 'Burnt Close' on the Tithe Map (MDV116120) with a reputed deserted settlement and chapel recorded within it (MDV40107 and MDV40108). They are interpreted as possible former field boundaries of medieval to post-medieval origin, that may have been associated with a deserted settlement and chapel, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
