Two earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The western depression is approximately square in shape, circa 15m across. The eastern depression is oblong in shape, 75m by 25m. The depressions do not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps. They are situated within a plot recorded as coppice on the Tithe Map and depicted as woodland by the end of the 19th century. The plot has subsequently remained woodland. The depressions are interpreted as extractive pits of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840.
