South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

The depression is situated within a plot recorded as 'Wood' but under pasture cultivation, and may be been a combination of both (Plot 575).

It is situated within a plot recorded as 'Wood' but under pasture cultivation in the Tithe Survey, and depicted as Glanville Copse in the First Edition OS map and maps thereafter. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin.
