Probert, S. + Fletcher, M. + Newman, P., 1998, Willsworthy Training Area, Peter Tavy, Devon: An Archaeological survey by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (Report - Survey). SDV350638.
(02/08/1998) Centred SX 52618216. A dispersed group of approximately 20 small and medium sized tin pits lie on the crest and E flank of Black Hill. The pits are generally small, with diameters in the range 2.5m to 5m, on the hillside and larger, up to 8m diameter, on the crest. In all cases spoil from the excavations has been deposited on the downslope edge of the pit. The smaller pits seem to represent exploratory workings while those on the crest are probably extractive shafts. Several of the pits have been slightly altered by recent military activity.
Probert, S., 2001, Willsworthy Training Area, Peter Tavy, Devon. Integrated Land Management Plan Implementation: Archaeological Condition Baseline Survey Appendices 2-5 (Report - Survey). SDV357727.
(20/12/2000) These pits, which lie under coarse moorland turf, are as described.
Newman, P., 2019, A Condition Survey of the Archaeological Sites of the Willsworthy Freehold, Dartmoor Training Area (Report - Survey). SDV363156.
