A large irregular shaped earthwork depression circa 110m by 35m is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depression corresponds with an enclosure depicted within the plot on the Tithe Map. The south-east part of the depression corresponds to an 'Old Marl Pit' depicted on the First Edition OS map. The rest of the depression is depicted as comprising scrub vegetation with a small pond, and is continually depicted as this through to the modern period. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit, probably for marl, of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction by the end of the 19th century.
Two areas of earthwork mounds circa 40m by 15m and 15m by 15m are also visible to the east of the depression, bisected by entry to the pit, and are interpreted as spoil heaps associated with the extraction work.
