Grinsell, L. V., 1970, The Barrows of North Devon, 116 (Article in Serial). SDV7849.

Visited 1969. Listed as a bowl barrow. Diameter 25 paces, height 3.5 feet.


Department of Environment, 1971, Eight Round Barrows on Affland Moor (Schedule Document). SDV339647.

Visited March 1969. Diameter 30 yards, heigh 3 fee 6 inches. Top concave. Under pasture.


Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977 - 1997, SS30SW8(A) (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV340081.

Visited 9th March 1951. Large grass covered mound with saucer depression in the top. No visible sign of berm or ditch, but ground is excessively waterlogged.
Visited 21st November 1877. Bowl barrow with ditch 5 metres wide traceable around north-east. Diameter 25 metres, height 1.1 metre.


Devon Committee for Rescue Archaeology, 1979 - 1981, North Devon Barrow Survey, DCRA ND81 (Archive - Survey). SDV341310.

Visited 28th November 1979. Diameter 21.7 metres, height 1.1 metres. Quite well preserved barrow with a flat top and hollow centre. Grass/rushmoor covered. Vague signs of ditch but heavy poaching by cattle and marshy ground tends to be rather confusing.

Visited 17th July 1997. Bowl barrow on Affaland Moor, 980 metres south-south-west of Leworthy. Diameter 27.5 metres, height 0.9 metre. Ditch survives as buried feature.

One of a group of eight barrows which straddle the ridge known as Affaland Moor. Survives as a circular mound 23.8 metres in diameter, and up to 0.6 metre high. The surrounding ditch is preserved as a buried feature 2.3 metres wide.
