The depression is situated within a plot recorded as 'Marl Pit Moor' (Plot 339).

The depression corresponds with a patch of trees and scrub.

A large approximately oval shaped earthwork depression circa 60m by 45m is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. It is situated within a plot recorded as 'Marl Pit Moor' on the Tithe Map. It corresponds with a patch of trees and scrub depicted on the First Edition OS map. The depression is interpreted as a marl pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction by the end of the 19th century.
