The depression corresponds with a plot recorded as 'Pit Close' (Plot 650).

The area of the depression is depicted as woodland and scrub.

A large irregular shaped earthwork depression circa 85m long and up to 45m across is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. It corresponds with a plot recorded as 'Pit Close' on the Tithe Map, under woodland cultivation. It corresponds with an area of woodland and scrub on the First Edition OS map and subsequent historic and modern maps. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840.
